Seddon Cricket Blazers: A Kiwi Heritage in Cream & Purple

Seddon Cricket Club takes its name from Seddon Park, the celebrated Hamilton ground named in honour of Richard Seddon — New Zealand's longest-serving Prime Minister. The park staged its first major cricket match in February 1914 and has been in constant use ever since, becoming a first-class venue in the 1956–57 season and a Test ground from the 1980s, with matches in both the 1992 and 2015 Cricket World Cups.

Seddon Cricket Club itself was founded to keep the Northern Districts cricket community connected — a social and playing club for past, present and future cricketers, guided, in its own words, by the unique etiquette of cricket. Under the patronage of former Black Caps captain Daniel Vettori, the club competes in the NZ Kindred Cup and Riverbend carnivals, and channels its fundraising back into schools and clubs across the Waikato. It is, in short, a club built on fellowship — and few garments express that fellowship quite like a blazer.

The Seddon blazer is a study in restrained, old-world elegance. A cream or off-white body — the colour of cricket whites, and of club-room linen — is edged in a dual-tone piping of purple and black: a single thin black line nested inside a wider purple band that traces the lapels, cuffs and pockets.
